Spinal cord injury, Tetraplegia
Tetraplegia is an immobility affecting four extremities, both arms and legs. It is associated with a limited ability to transfer body weight. It is also associated with a limited ability or inability to use the hands to grip, due to a road accident, a diving accident, a tumour, MS or polio.
Possible adaptations:
- Assistance in and out of a vehicle
- Lift platform for moving wheelchair in and out of a car
- Automatic opening/closing of door
- Ramp for transferring a wheelchair
- Wheelchair lock (wheelchair as driver’s seat)
- Hand control for accelerator and brakes, mechanical or hydraulic
- Electrical functions for turning indicators (blinkers), headlights and high beams, and windshield wiper and washer
- Electrical functions for control of ignition, start, defroster, electrical gear selector,
seat lock - Electrical gear selector
- Electrical control of sun shield
- Steering weel spinner with custom grip
- Forked support, e.g. wrist grip
- Modified servo steering
- Mini steering wheel
- Defroster for clean winter windows
- Remote control of defroster
